Established in 2017 by the County Government of Makueni, Ikungu Borehole Water Project (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y4gKpXgX99qCakHCA) is located in Kyale Sub-location, Makindu Ward, Kibwezi West Subcounty, Makueni County.
The water scheme comprises:
Since establishment, the project has been managed by a Self-Help Group (SHG) through a water management committee, however the project has been dysfunctional since August 2025 due to mismanagement by the water committee.
Through a PPP/Management contract the project will be handed over to Rural Water Management Solutions Kenya to rehabilitate and provide professional management for a period of 10 years.
We leverage innovative service delivery models, appropriate technologies, and strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to ensure sustainable, efficient, and reliable water services for underserved communities.
We operate under the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) guidelines for the provision of water services in rural and underserved areas.
